Privacy Policy
You need to have a clear privacy policy that follows these guidelines:
Linking: Ensure the privacy policy is linked on your app’s Google Play store listing and within your app itself. The link must lead to a live, publicly accessible web page (no PDFs).
Developer/Entity Information: The privacy policy must reference your company or developer name, which should match the name used in your app's Google Play listing.
Clarity and Labeling: Clearly label the document as a "Privacy Policy" and make it easy to find and read in a standard browser without requiring any special plug-ins.
Non-editable: Ensure the privacy policy is non-editable and displayed on an active URL.
Point of Contact: Include a method for users to reach out with inquiries, such as an email address or a contact form.
Content:
Disclose the types of personal and sensitive data your app collects, how it’s used, and if it’s shared with third parties.
Clearly explain your data handling practices, including how you protect user data (encryption, secure storage, etc.).
Mention how long you retain user data and how users can request deletion of their data.
Comprehensive Privacy Policy Checklist
To meet the User Data policy, your privacy policy must cover the following:
Types of Data Collected:
Specify the types of personal data your app collects, such as names, emails, location, etc.
Data Usage:
Explain why you collect this data (e.g., for improving services, personalizing the user experience, processing payments, etc.).
Data Sharing:
Mention if any user data is shared with third-party services, such as analytics or advertising partners.
Secure Data Handling:
Describe how your app securely handles personal data (e.g., encrypted storage, secure communication).
Data Retention & Deletion Policy:
State how long the app keeps user data and how users can request their data to be deleted.
Implement the Privacy Policy in Your App Once you’ve written the privacy policy, you need to:
Link it within the app: Ensure that the privacy policy is easily accessible from a prominent location within the app, such as in the settings menu or during the sign-up process.
Link it on the Google Play Store Listing: Go to your app listing in Google Play Console and add the privacy policy URL to the required field.
How to Resolve This Issue:
Create a Privacy Policy that meets Google Play’s requirements, either by writing one or using an online privacy policy generator.
Make sure it addresses all the points mentioned above.
Host the Privacy Policy on a public and active URL (use your website). Ensure the page is accessible globally and not restricted geographically.
Update the Privacy Policy Link in both your app and Google Play Console:
In Google Play Console, navigate to your app, then go to Store Presence > Main Store Listing, and add the privacy policy URL in the Privacy Policy URL field.
Update your app’s code to include a link to the privacy policy inside the app (typically in a "Settings" or "About" section).
Resubmit the App: After making these changes, resubmit your app for review through Google Play Console.
